Will my child need help with this course?

AmpUP is designed to be student-friendly and self-paced, so most students in grades 4–12 can work independently. That said, younger or less confident learners may benefit from light parent oversight, especially at the start, to build good study habits. Parents also have access to our membership area for extra tools and tips to support their child’s success.

How much time does it take each week?

The full program includes about 3 lessons per week, with each lesson taking approximately 40–50 minutes. Students can work at a pace that suits their routine — shorter daily practice times often help strengthen new skills and make them stick.

What if my child is older but still struggling?

AmpUP was specifically created for older students who need to revisit foundational reading and spelling skills in a way that feels age-appropriate and respectful. It’s never too late to strengthen decoding, encoding, and word understanding. Many teens find that the clear explanations and interactive design help them fill in gaps without feeling embarrassed.

Can I get a refund if it’s not a good fit?

Because this is a deeply discounted pilot program, refunds are not available once enrolled. However, we are committed to supporting you — pilot families have access to extra tools, including check in’s with the course developer and can provide feedback to help us continuously improve the experience.

When does the pilot start and end?

The AmpUP pilot begins in Fall 2025 and runs throughout the full school year. New units will be released progressively, with everything structured to guide students step-by-step from start to finish. Pilot participants get early access to updates and special supports as we build the final full-scale program.

Is AmpUP Literacy a secular course?

Yes. AmpUP Literacy is a fully secular, evidence-based program. All instruction is free from religious content, making it a great fit for families of any faith or no faith. This allows parents to easily integrate the course into their own educational approach, whether or not it includes faith-based studies.

Is AmpUP Literacy purchased per child or per family?

AmpUP Literacy is designed for each child to have their own account. This ensures that every student can fully participate in interactive activities, track their individual progress, and move through the course at their own pace. While families are welcome to share the video lessons, the interactive components and progress tracking cannot be easily shared between students.

AmpUP Literacy is designed as a 3-year progressive program, building skills step-by-step for lasting mastery. Each year focuses on a new level of phonics and morphology instruction:

Year 3: Mastering Phonics and Morphology with Greek and Latin Roots

How do you determine where my child should start—by assessment or by grade level?

AmpUP Literacy is different from most structured phonics programs. While many courses place students strictly by grade level or a short skills check, AmpUP is a progressive, multi-year program designed specifically for older learners. Level 1 develops essential foundational skills in phonics and morphology—many of which are not taught in other programs—while also integrating executive functioning skills that support reading, spelling, and learning success.

Because these skills build from year to year, it is highly recommend that all students—regardless of current reading or spelling ability—begin with Level 1, even if they have completed other structured literacy programs in the past. The course content is never “watered down” for older students, and even strong readers will learn strategies and concepts they haven’t encountered before. This solid foundation ensures the best possible success in Levels 2 and 3.
